Wednesday Night Reflections: A Word From the LORD

A WORD FROM THE LORD
“義” is the Chinese word for “righteousness.” Broken apart, 義 is composed of the upper part “羊” and the lower part “我.” In Chinese, “羊” means “lamb,” and “我” is the pronoun “I.” As a believer of Jesus, what do I think of when given the word “lamb” and “I”?
I think of the holiness of Jesus, the Lamb and the sinfulness of the person I.
I think of what the Lamb did for me when I was in the powerless state of sin.
I think of the fact that the Lamb was slain, bearing my sin, so that I could have salvation as a free gift.
I think of...through the cross on which the blood of the Lamb was shed, the broken bridge between God and I was re-built. I, through the sacrifice of the Lamb, become righteous before God and, even more so, the righteousness of God.
This is what really blows my mind: the Gospel of Jesus Christ is imbedded in a Chinese word! There is the “羊" above in Heaven, there is “我”below on earth, and there is the combination “義": I am under the Lamb who died for me, and therefore I become the righteousness of God! Praise the Lord! I cannot help but praise God for His creativity and His heart for us Chinese people to know Him, revealing His Word through a word of our own. May He reveal to us, people of all nations, more words like this in our own languages, and may we use them for His glory!
Can you imagine what God will do to reveal Himself to us, through a common, simple, or small thing in our life, and how much more is He revealing Himself through the whole Creation?! I look into the small—the complexity of a DNA molecule—I see God; I look into the big—the harmony of the planetary galaxies—I see God. God is revealing Himself, and He has given you what is needed to see, and the will to see.
To the Glory of His Name,
mike
