Salvation

How to be a soul-winner, using the Scriptures?

Inspired by Bill Sanner's teaching, which ultimately comes from God

A soul-winner does not sell Jesus. A soul-winner reflects Jesus. A soul-winner is not a salesman who benefit him/herself but a servant who glorifies God. As followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, our salvation is already dealt with as we repent for our sins and accept Jesus as our savior, not that we will be saved in a better way if we work our ways to lead others to Christ. We ought to know that it is not us, but the Holy Spirit, who ultimately wins souls. We are, merely, nothing, but by God's grace He uses us as tools for His kingdom purposes.

As a logical approach, use the following Scriptures in sequence to introduce people to our best friend--Jesus. To start the conversation, relate to the person's life and introduce sin.

1. Romans 3:23: for all have sinned and fall short of God's glory (what we are)

2. Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (the result of what we are--death from sin Vs God's free gift--Life of Jesus)

3. Romans 5:8: But God demonstrated his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (God loves us)

4. Romans 10:9-10: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Believe + Confession = Be Saved!)
Romans 10:13: for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

5. Ephesians 2:8-9: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. (nullify every other religion--works cannot save us)

6. John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (No matter who you are, what you have done, God loves you)

Ask the person if he or she wanted to accept Jesus as savior and start a personal relationship with Him. Be patient. Let the Spirit of God work. If the person do not wish to do so, do not be discouraged. God has His timing. He may have already planted a seed in his/her heart. Keep in contact with that person and pray for him/her. If the person willingly acknowledged "yes," lead him/her in a pray like this:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins. I repent for all my sins against you right now, and ask for your forgiveness through the precious blood of Jesus Christ who died and rose again for me. Lord Jesus, take over my life right now and forevermore. I love you. Amen."

Congratulations! You've just won a soul for Jesus!

What now? Pray for the person you just lead to the Lord often, invite him/her to the church you go to(Fellowship) and keep in close contact with him/her(Discipleship).

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. (Acts 20:24)
